Tarot of 78 Doors. An Invitation to the Past and the Future
Authors:A. Lobanov, T. Borodina
The new book by popular authors A. Lobanov and T. Borodina is written for the Tarot of 78 Doors deck and explores the connection between the Minor and Major Arcana and ways of answering everyday questions: what, where, when, who, how and why?
Tatyana Borodina and Alexey Lobanov applied Wirth’s system to the deck, which is built around the central card, the Fool Arcanum, and the seven paths, the seven keys, that arise from it.
Each of these seven keys implies a correspondence with three Major Arcana and eight Minor Arcana. In this way all the cards of the deck are distributed, giving seven unique keys for understanding and interpreting the cards.
Each group of cards, or key, is combined with cards of a particular meaning.
Tarot of 78 Doors. The Magic Key or Creative Key: the first key, the magic or creative key, brings together the first three Major Arcana, Arcana I, II and III, and the corresponding Minor Arcana cards.
The second key, the Emperor’s Key or Key of Order, is linked to the following Major Arcana: IV, V, VI and so on.
The authors have undoubtedly done a very interesting and distinctive piece of work in applying Wirth’s system to this deck. This suggests that the system proposed by Borodina and Lobanov will work with other decks of this type with ease and simplicity, explaining the structure of the deck and the relationship between the cards within the metaphysical system of the French Tarot school.
In addition, the book gives each card’s answers to the questions asked most often – “what, where, when, who, how, why”.
The authors preserve the meaning of each card and at the same time explain it beautifully, with love, knowledge and taste.
