The mystical powers that ancient peoples believed lapis lazuli possessed are that it brings calm and enhances mental activity. Because some lapis lazuli stones have a deep, dark colour, they were called "the ocean". When a person gazed into such a stone, they were instantly washed over by tranquillity and drawn in, as if by the ocean itself.
It carries hope, faith, health and prosperity. It supports the fulfillment of promises. It protects children. It promotes friendship, sincerity, mutual affection, beauty and motherhood. It helps ease childbirth. It brings joy, success, happiness and peaceful, restful sleep.
It aids foresight and divination. It relieves pain, heavy thoughts and melancholy, and counteracts poisons.
