The Matrix of Destiny

The Matrix of Destiny by date of birth — thirty-three positions and an arcanum for every year

If you have ever filled in a form, you have already handed a stranger the three most important numbers of your life: the day, the month and the year you were born. There they serve to check your age and then go into some folder. In the Matrix of Destiny those same three numbers produce a map of your whole path — thirty-three positions and one arcanum for every year from zero to eighty.

The method belongs to Natalia Ladini and works with the date alone. No hour of birth, no city, no hunting for the birth certificate in a drawer last opened in 2011 together with the warranty for a washing machine that has long since gone. What everyone knows about themselves by heart is enough.

This article explains where the numbers come from, what each of the thirty-three positions means, how the line of the years is read, and where the border runs between what the matrix shows and what it cannot show.

What the Matrix of Destiny is

The matrix is a diagram of points, each carrying a number from one to twenty-two. Those twenty-two numbers are the major arcana of the Tarot, from the Magician to the Fool. Every point has its own place and its own meaning: one speaks of the personality, another of money, a third of the father's line, a fourth of health.

The meaning comes from the two together. One and the same arcanum means something entirely different depending on the place it landed in. The Devil in the money point tells one story; the Devil in the point of relationships, quite another. That is why the reading is not a list of general card meanings but an account of one particular combination.

The diagram is called an octagram, because its outer points are eight and they form two overlaid squares. In the middle stands the central point, and between them lie the lines of the lineage, the purpose and the inner resources.

People usually know the matrix from a picture on social media — a beautiful eight-pointed star with numbers on the tips. That star holds only nine numbers. The full matrix has thirty-three positions, and alongside them runs a separate line of eighty-one years.

Where the numbers come from — the calculation in plain words

Everything starts from three numbers: day, month, year.

The day stays the day as long as it is under twenty-three. From twenty-three upwards the first two digits are added: the twenty-eighth becomes the tenth, the thirtieth becomes the third. This is the rule of reduction and it holds everywhere in the matrix: under twenty-three the number stays as it is, from twenty-three upwards it is added once.

The month works the same way, and the year is reduced by adding its four digits. Nineteen eighty-four gives twenty-two. Nineteen ninety-one gives twenty.

The fourth point is the sum of the three. From these four numbers the next ones follow: each is the sum of two neighbours, reduced by the same rule. So the diagram unfolds inwards until it reaches the centre.

That is exactly why the matrix can be calculated from the date alone. The hour and the city take part in the birth chart, because there it matters where the sky stood in that minute. Here the calculation is numerical and does without them.

There is no need to count by hand. Below there is a place where you enter the date and get the finished octagram in a second — free, including before you have entered the game.

The thirty-three positions

The positions are divided into groups, and each one speaks about its own area.

The personality and the centre

The first point is your calling card — the way you show yourself outwards, and what people see in the first half hour. The central point is something else: it is the point of comfort, the place where it is very convenient to stay and to which you return when you are tired. In it usually hides the answer to why the same thing keeps repeating — comfort has a habit of looking like a choice.

Between them lie Sky and Earth — the spiritual task and the material one. One asks what you have understood, the other what you do with what you understood.

The lineage

Four positions look back: the father and the grandfather on the father's line, the grandmother on the father's line, the mother and the grandfather on the mother's line, the grandmother on the mother's line. With them come the male and the female line as a whole and the strength of the lineage — what was given to you at birth, before you had a say.

Here the repetitions every family keeps begin to show: the women marry late or not at all, money comes and drains away, the men leave, someone keeps silent about something and that silence reaches you across three generations.

The purpose

The purpose runs on three levels — personal, social and overall. The first says what you go through by yourself, the second what you give to others, the third ties them into a single sentence.

This is the position people open first, and they are usually surprised. The purpose rarely looks like a profession. More often it looks like the way you do anything at all.

Money, love and the guardian angel

The money key shows how income and resources work for you — whether they come easily, whether they stay, where they leak away. The position of partnership looks at what you seek in closeness and what happens once you have it.

Between the two there is a point called the guardian angel of money and relationships. It shows through which quality both open at the same time. Sometimes it turns out that one and the same thing blocks both money and love — an uncomfortable discovery, but a useful one.

The karmic tail

Three numbers form the karmic tail. It shows the themes you carry from before — the ones with the remarkable gift of appearing under another name, with another face and almost the same plot, until you finally grasp what they want.

The tail is read as a whole rather than in parts. The three arcana tell one story in three moves: where it comes from, how it shows itself and what closes it.

The chakras and health

Seven positions follow the spine — from Muladhara to Sahasrara, each with three numbers. Here the matrix looks at which level works freely and which is tight, and from what.

At the end there is a general position for the state of health and a list of the dominant energies — the arcana that repeat most often across your whole diagram. If one number comes up five times, your life has probably mentioned it already.

The arcanum of every year, from zero to eighty

This is the part missing from most free calculators, and it is the most vivid one.

From the same date of birth comes a line of eighty-one years, each with its own arcanum. It reads both backwards and forwards.

Backwards is the check. Look at the year in which you changed jobs, met someone important, ended a relationship, moved house or said that classic line, "how on earth did I get here". There you will find an arcanum that usually explains why precisely then.

Forwards is the useful part. This year has a leading theme, next year another. The Tower and the Fool ask for different behaviour: one brings down what was built crooked, the other opens a blank page. If you know which of the two your year is, you plan more calmly.

The years are free to see. You tap a number and hear at once which arcanum it carries and what it says.

What the matrix shows and what stays outside it

The matrix shows structure: which themes you carry, where it comes easily to you, where you make the task harder for yourself, what comes down the lineage and what repeats.

The matrix does not name names, dates of events or decisions on your behalf. The number of the year describes the character of the period; the choice inside it stays yours. Anyone who promises you an exact date from a date of birth is selling something else.

The same holds for health. The position of health speaks of strain and of weak places in the structure. For pain, a symptom or a condition, a doctor answers, and there is no hesitation about that here.

And one more honest thing: the numbers are calculated the same way for everyone. The difference lies in the reading — in how your particular combination works together. That is why the numbers are free and only the interpretation is paid.

How to draw your matrix

You enter the room, type in your date of birth and receive the octagram, the thirty-three positions with a short meaning for every arcanum, and the whole line from zero to eighty. This is free for everyone, including someone who does not have an account yet.

On top of that you get one short general reading — about ten sentences on the whole matrix, one for a lifetime, with no payment. It needs an account, because it is saved in the Book of the Soul and stays there.

From there on there are two possibilities. One theme — money, love, health, purpose or lineage — is read for 3.33 €. The full reading of all thirty-three positions is 11.11 €: it starts from the centre, passes through the lineage, the tasks, money, love and health, and ties them into one. Both download as Word and PDF.

With a Seer subscription you receive one theme every month. With Initiate — two themes a month and one full reading every three months.

If you already know the date of birth of the person you are with, you can start from there too: Compatibility reads the two matrices side by side.

And if your theme has to do with an hour, a city, transits or a particular moment, its place is with The Celestial Teacher.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an hour of birth for the Matrix of Destiny?

No. The whole calculation runs on the day, the month and the year. The hour and the city take part in the birth chart and in astrological readings, and stay aside here.

By which method is this matrix calculated?

By the method of Natalia Ladini — the twenty-two major arcana arranged on an octagram, with thirty-three positions and a line of years from zero to eighty.

What does reducing the number mean?

Under twenty-three the number stays as it is. From twenty-three upwards its first two digits are added, once. Twenty-eight becomes ten, thirty-one becomes four.

Are the Matrix of Destiny and the birth chart the same thing?

They are different. The birth chart looks at the sky in the minute of birth and requires an hour and a city. The matrix is a numerical diagram from the date and speaks about the structure of the themes. The two complement each other and often say the same thing in different words.

Can a matrix be drawn for another person?

Yes, as long as you know their date of birth. The name field says who it is for, so that the name appears in the document too.

How much does the reading cost?

The numbers, the octagram and the years are free. One short general reading as well. Reading one theme costs 3.33 €, and the full reading of the thirty-three positions 11.11 €, with downloads as Word and PDF.
