The Hanged Man allows for a temporary delay. An answer may come late, a date may be changed, the first job may fall through, the flat may be taken by someone else, or the original plan may need adjusting. It is right after that that the better opportunity may appear. If one job falls through, another may come after it. If the first flat does not work out, the second may suit your needs much better. If the trip changes its date, the new moment may bring the important development.
The Page of Cups adds a person as well. Someone may help, invite you, recommend you, give you information or say one sentence after which you start seeing your future differently. For some people, the new direction may also bring a personal acquaintance that was never part of the original plan.
The Star stretches the timeline of this story. What begins during one lunar cycle may go on changing your life long after it ends. The first opportunity opens a second, and it is the second that may turn out to be the reason you one day tell yourself you did well to set off.

For the new road to continue, towards the end of the cycle you will have to finish with a part of your old way of life. It may be a job, a commitment, a contract, a place, a schedule or a back-up option you have kept so far because it gave you a sense of security. A big change becomes real when it starts changing your calendar.
With a new job, the moment may come to hand in your notice, finish a project or pass on your responsibilities. With moving, you may end a contract, start clearing a flat, sell or give away belongings and decide what is actually worth travelling with you. With study, you may cut back on another commitment to free up time. With travel or a big life change, you may cancel a plan that no longer fits the new direction.
The Eight of Swords also speaks of limitations you have long taken for granted. “It’s too late for me”, “I don’t have enough experience”, “there’s no way I can live anywhere else”, “I can’t start over”. During this cycle you may receive very practical proof that at least one of these beliefs no longer has a place in your decisions.
Death closes a stage. Even if the physical change still needs time, your attitude to the old life will already be different. If the wish is about moving, you may not have carried the last box yet, but you will already know where you want your next address to be. If it is about work, you may still be working your notice, but in your own decision you will already have left.

By the next new moon I expect a beginning that can already be written in the calendar. A new job, a first day of study, a moving date, a ticket bought, a project started, the end of an old position or a decision after which the coming weeks will look different.
The Fool and the Ace of Wands give a strong start, and the Three of Pentacles suggests that the new period will include people who matter for your development. It may be a new team, a teacher, an employer, a partner, a colleague or someone who helps you settle into the new environment in practical ways.
The Six of Swords again brings transition, and with moving or travel the likelihood of actually setting off is strong. With a career change, it speaks of leaving a familiar environment and entering another. If you are studying, you may begin to see how the new knowledge is already changing your future options.
The Wheel of Fortune is the important change in the finale, because it leaves the story open. The next new moon will not be the end of the road. It may be the moment you realise that your original wish has led to a development you never put in the plan. You apply for one job and receive an offer for another. You think of one city and an opportunity appears in a different one. You sign up for a course with a certain aim and discover a career direction that suits you far better. You travel for a few days, and from there a story begins that goes on for months.
By the next new moon you have already set off, even if you do not yet know exactly where this road will take you. And that is precisely what makes this variant different — the result is a beginning with a sequel.
At the start you already know you want change, even if you have not yet decided exactly what it will look like. The first part of the cycle brings information, an offer, a conversation or an opportunity that turns the wish into a real option. Then the preparation begins — applications, documents, interviews, choosing a place, organising a trip, enrolling in a course or a conversation that determines the next step.
Around the full moon I expect a decision that divides the story into “before” and “after”. You may receive an answer about a job, an admission, a document, a flat or a trip, and then you will have to decide whether you are really ready to follow what you asked for. We dream beautifully of change until it sends an email with a start date.
After the full moon the original plan may be adjusted. The road may change its address. One opportunity falls away and leads to another, a person appears who opens a different direction, or you discover that the wish can be fulfilled in a way you had not foreseen. This twist matters, because the first opportunity may be only the reason you reach the second.
By the next new moon I expect a concrete change — a new job, a course begun, a move set, a trip, a new project or a decision with a date and next steps. The strongest line in this variant is that the first event opens a second, and the second may change your original plan. You set off because of one wish, and only one lunar cycle later you may find yourself at the start of a much bigger change than the one you asked for.

The Six of Cups brings back an old thread. You may have done this as a child or a young person, been good at it, had someone encourage you, or had an opportunity you let go at the time. The Star speaks of a wish that has outlived time. If after five, ten or twenty years you still remember the same dream, this cycle will give you reason to ask how much of it still belongs to the person you are today.
The Queen of Wands adds talent and the wish to express something of your own. With creative work this can be quite literal. With a project of your own, you want to create something that carries your idea and your signature. With a dream of a different way of life, you are looking for more time, freedom and the chance for your daily life to resemble more closely what you have chosen yourself.
The Hermit suggests you have long kept this wish mostly to yourself. You may have remembered it with that convenient “some day”, which keeps dreams beautifully safe — including from the danger of accidentally starting to come true. During this lunar cycle, however, a reason will appear to take it seriously again.

The first development comes through a small chance to give the dream a place in your real life. With creative work, someone may like what you do and ask for more. You may publish a text, a photo, a drawing, music or an idea, and the response may be stronger than you expected. With a talent you have long used just for pleasure, an offer may come to take part in something, to help with your skill or to show it to people outside your usual circle.
The Three of Cups brings surroundings and people. A friend may connect you with someone, you may find yourself in a group with similar interests, or you may finally tell your dream to someone who knows how to help you with the first step. The Page of Swords adds research — you start looking into how it is done, what you need, where you can take part, who already does it and how you can begin with the means you have.
The Ace of Wands is the spark. One very small event may bring the energy back to the dream. Someone says: “This is really good, why don’t you take it more seriously?” and then the question follows you around for days. Such people are annoyingly useful.

The dream starts to grow when it gets time, form and repetition. The Eight of Pentacles is a strong card for talent, because it links the gift to what a person actually does. The Magician says you already have more than you need to begin. A skill, technique, experience, contacts, knowledge or an idea may be available right now, and during this cycle you will start bringing them together. The King of Wands adds the courage to step out under your own name, to offer what you have made, to apply, to publish or to tell people what you do.
With a creative dream, in this part of the cycle you may start a concrete piece of work — a text, a painting, a photography project, a course, a channel, a website, a product, an exhibition or another form that can reach people. With a talent, you may decide to develop it more seriously. With a project of your own, you will reach the question of what its first usable version looks like.
The Three of Wands widens the audience. The internet, abroad, a new environment or people outside your usual circle may matter. Something you have so far shared with a few close people may reach a complete stranger, and their reaction may give you a valuable idea of how your work is received.

Around the full moon I expect a response from the outside world. You may receive an invitation, an offer, good feedback, a first client, a sale, a chance to take part, interest in the project or an opportunity to present what you create. This moment will matter, because for the first time the dream will be tested outside your own imagination.
With creative work, someone may want to publish, buy, use or present what you have made. With a talent, you may be offered the chance to apply it in a real situation. If you are developing a project of your own, people can now respond to it — sign up, buy, ask, recommend or request the next version.
The Seven of Wands, however, brings an important test. You may receive criticism, see that there is competition, need to defend an idea or change part of what you have made after the first response. This is exactly what will be useful. If the dream comes through its meeting with real people, it will have a much sturdier foundation to grow on.
If the wish is about a way of life, around the full moon you may experience a small part of it — a few days in a place where you would like to live, more time for a favourite pastime, a different schedule or a meeting with people who already live that way. Then you will find out how it feels inside the dream once it is part of a real day with a Monday morning, shopping and laundry.
The Ace of Pentacles brings a practical opportunity. A first payment may appear too, but more importantly, you now have something that can be developed. The dream gets a place in your real life.

The hidden part has to do with a very important change: the old dream may come back in a new form. At twenty you wanted to be an actor, and today you may discover that you want to write for the theatre, film, direct or create a project of your own around it. You dreamed of living in Italy, and now you may realise that your real ideal life includes two months there every year. You wanted a certain profession, and over the years you have built skills that can take you to the same feeling by a completely different route.
The Empress brings growth, and the Two of Pentacles allows the dream to run alongside the rest of your life for a while. A job and a project of your own, daily duties and creative work, a steady income and a new pursuit that gradually gets more room. That way you can find out what role you want this dream to have now.
The Lovers bring a choice. If the project starts attracting interest, you will have to decide how much time you are ready to give it. If the talent starts bringing opportunities, you will decide how seriously you want to develop it. If the dreamed-of way of life becomes reachable, you will have to choose what part of your present life you are ready to change.
The Wheel of Fortune adds a development you can hardly plan in advance. Someone may share your work, recommend you, or an invitation or meeting may appear that opens a new direction. The Page of Cups also allows for a person who believes in your idea, creates something with you or enters your life precisely through this dream.
What I need to let go

Towards the end of the cycle you will meet the reason this dream has waited so long. You may have believed you were too late, that others were better, that you lacked the time, money, equipment, knowledge or contacts. You may have postponed the start until the perfect moment came, and the perfect moment was probably very busy in the meantime and never managed to call.
The Five of Pentacles points to the feeling that resources are not enough. During this cycle you may discover that the beginning requires much less than you assumed. You can start with what you already have and add the rest gradually.
The Five of Wands adds comparison with others. This can be especially strong with creative work and talent. You have written three pages, then you see someone with four hundred thousand followers, and within five minutes you decide that world literature is clearly well enough supplied. If during this cycle you catch yourself in a comparison like that, bring your attention back to your own progress. Someone else’s tenth season is not much use for judging your first episode.
The Four of Pentacles is attachment to what is safe, and the Ten of Wands warns of the opposite extreme — loading the dream with so many duties that within two weeks you are its accountant, courier, marketing department and disgruntled employee all at once. Leave enough room for the reason you wanted this in the first place.

By the next new moon I expect the dream to have its first form of its own in your life. You may have started a project, created something finished, received a first response from an audience, found people with similar interests, signed up for a course or changed your daily routine so that there is now time for what you want to develop.
The Eight of Pentacles suggests continuation through practice. If during this cycle you have returned to a talent, by the next new moon you will know what you want to refine. If the project has attracted interest, you will have a reason to make the next text, product, painting, event, video or version. The dream will no longer wait for a free afternoon once every three months.
The Three of Cups brings people around it. You may find an audience, a partner for a project, a group with similar interests or an environment in which it is easier to develop this part of yourself. The King of Pentacles also allows for practical value. A first payment, a client, a sale or an offer may appear as a sign that what you have created has a place in the material world too. The main result, however, is far more personal: you have given the dream a real place in your life.
The Two of Wands is a lovely ending for this variant. At the beginning you asked yourself why the old dream keeps coming back. By the next new moon you may be asking how far you want to take it. And between those two questions lies a whole lunar cycle in which you finally did something with it.
This dream comes back because part of it still belongs to the person you are now, even if its form may be different. At the start of the cycle a small reason will appear to bring it out of your thoughts — an invitation, an idea, a person, a reaction, a course, a project or a chance to use a talent that has long been waiting its turn. It is from this small reason that the bigger story begins.
While the Moon waxes, it will be important to give the wish a form — to create, write, publish, offer, learn or begin. Around the full moon I expect a response from people. There may be interest, an offer, a chance to take part, a client, a sale or feedback that helps you understand what is worth developing. There will also be a test of whether you are ready to continue when work, criticism, competition and the need for persistence are added to the praise.
Then comes the most interesting twist: you may discover that your dream now wants a different form from the one you imagined years ago. It has lived through life together with you. It may have become more practical, freer, more mature or much closer to the person you are today.
By the next new moon I expect something real to exist — a project begun, a piece of work created, a new skill, an audience, new people, an offer, a first payment or a change in the way you use your time. The strongest line in “My Dream” is that the wish comes back so that you can find out what of it is still yours and how you want to live it now. By the end of the cycle the question is how far you are ready to take it.
