Symbolon Oracle Set with Book

Symbolon Oracle

Symbolon Oracle is one of the most renowned psychological decks in the world, created by Ingrid Zinnel, Peter Orban and Thea Weller in Germany in the 1980s. Inspired by astrology, European mythology and analytical psychology, this oracle does not predict the future in the traditional sense — instead, it helps you understand the deeper causes of what is happening in your life, your inner conflicts and the patterns that shape who you are.

The name Symbolon comes from the ancient Greek word "symbolon" — a clay tablet broken into two pieces and shared between close companions. Years later, the two halves would be reunited as a token of recognition and the restoration of a lost bond. This very idea lies at the heart of the deck — to help you find the missing piece of your own story, recognise the origins of your experiences and reconnect with your inner wholeness.

Although it contains 78 cards, Symbolon is not a Tarot deck. The number of cards is the only similarity. Each card depicts an encounter between archetypes, astrological symbols, gods, goddesses and mythological themes that reveal different aspects of the human psyche. Working with the deck resembles a psychotherapeutic session — it helps you reach the root of a given issue, understand its origin and find a fresh perspective for resolving it.

The illustrations by Thea Weller bring European myths, historical motifs and astrological symbols to life. An astrological sign appears in each corner of every card, allowing the deck to be used both by those with a background in astrology and by anyone who prefers to work intuitively with symbols. No prior astrological knowledge is needed to work with Symbolon successfully — the cards speak through their images, archetypes and associations.

Symbolon Oracle is a favourite among psychologists, tarot readers, astrologers and all who seek deep self-knowledge. It is especially well suited for exploring relationships, personal growth, inner conflicts, life choices and themes connected to karma, archetypes and the symbolic understanding of past experiences.
